When the organization of the XXVIth IUGB Congress first started one of the main goals set by the organizing committee was to use the IUGB Congress to launch a new Scientific Journal related with Wildlife Biology. It has been considered that wildlife research is, presently, a developing scientific subject in Portugal and therefore, time had arrived to create a set of national and international Journals that would contribute to consolidate our efforts in promoting wildlife research in Portugal .
"Wildlife Biology in Practice" is a new "open access" scientific, peer-reviewed, multi-disciplinary journal devoted to the rapid dissemination of wildlife research. It publishes research papers, review papers, discussion papers, methodological papers and short communications in all fields of wildlife biology. Clear relevance to practical aspects of wildlife research is encouraged.
The journal seeks papers that are novel, integrative and written in a way that is accessible to a wide audience that includes an array of disciplines from the natural sciences, social sciences, and the humanities concerned with the wildlife research. Content of the journal ranges from the applied to the theoretical, with a clear relevance to practical research. Specifically, the journal publishes articles that present research findings on the following issues:

The Wildlife Biology in Practice is edited by the Portuguese Wildlife Society in cooperation with CESAM, Dep. Biologia, Aveiro University, CBMA, Dep. de Biologia, Minho University and Fundo de Apoio à Comunidade Científica (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia).
